DSGA Golf Tournament benefitting student scholarships

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Over 100 golfers will hit the links on Monday in a tournament to raise money for scholarships for students in Delaware.

It’s the Delaware State Golf Association’s annual tournament held at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club. The organization raises money each and every year to give to a handful of students in the state to foster their interest in golf and support them through school. So far this year, we’re told the organization has committed over one hundred thousand dollars.

Organizers say they’re happy to encourage the love of golf while also giving students opportunities in their education.

“Golf has got a great work ethic, it gives you stability, you learn honor, things that go a long way in life,” Ed Brown, the Chairman of the organization, said.

“A lot of the feedback we get from some of the recipients is that they can take courses or go to a different school because of the additional funds they have available to them,” Ronald Barrows, the Co-founder, said.

Ahead of Monday, the organization has an online auction going on that also benefits the scholarship funds. Anyone can bid on trips, golf outings, and much more just by logging on to their website. The organization is also looking for sponsors for next year’s event, so if you’re interested you can also find that information on their website.
