Cooling Center opening at Wicomico Youth & Civic Center
SALISBURY, Md. – The Wicomico County Health Department will open a cooling center for those needing relief from the heat over the coming days.
Residents can cool off at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center in Flanders Rooms 4 & 5 on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and again on Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Masks are strongly encouraged. In addition, pets are not permitted, and residents will need to bring their own food, beverages, and medications.
In addition, individuals over the age of 50 who need shelter from extreme heat can do so at the MAC Senior Center, located at 909 Progress Circle, Suite 200. The center will be open on Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Anyone needing transportation to the Civic Center should call Shore Transit at 443-260-2300 and select the “dispatch” option.
