Parkside lax takes down Bennett, Rams sit atop the Bayside South at 3-0

SALISNURY, MD.- Behind six goals from senior Dom Flora, the Parkside Rams defeated the Bennett clippers 16-9 to move to 3-0. The loss drops the Clippers to 1-2 on the season.

The last time we saw these two teams, they were both in action in the MPSSAA 2A and 3A semifinals. Parkside fell to Century in the 2A bracket 7-4 while the Clippers took a tough loss 16-6 to Westminster. The Rams returned a majority of their starters including senior attack Dom Flora who was a sophomore in 2019. The Clippers only returned two starters from their semifinal team, both on defense.

The Rams looked to be in semifinal form in the first quarter, opening on a 2-0 run leading 8-3 after the first quarter and then taking a 12-5 lead at the break.

The Clippers defense tightened up in the third, only allowing one goal in the quarter but unable to get back on the board to trail 13-5 headed to the fourth quarter. In the final 12 minutes, the Bennett offense picked up scoring two quick goals to cut the lead to just six with under four minutes to play. Following a Rams timeout, Parkside got some insurance goals and held on for the 16-9 win.
