Delmar can’t mount late comeback, eliminated from DIAA tournament

Wilmington Christian holds on to knock off Wildcats

DELMAR, De- The Delmar Wildcats boys basketball team fell to Wilmington Christian 57-51, in Round 2 of the DIAA tournament on Thursday night.

Delmar erased a nine point halftime deficit, and took their first second half lead midway thru the fourth quarter. But a late run by the Warriors, including a clutch 3-pointer to retake the lead by Dan Starkey (21 points). The road team also got clutch buckets down the stretch from point guard Dante Brinkley (22 points). Cameron Bozman led Delmar with 13 points, with teammates TJ Gibson, Jeremiah Lumpkin-Beale, and Davin Chandler each adding 10.

The Wildcats finish the 2021 season with a 10-4 overall record.
