Downtown Salisbury Holiday Shopping Event coming up this weekend

SALISBURY, Md. – Small businesses in downtown Salisbury are banding together to encourage folks to shop local this holiday season. The Downtown Salisbury Holiday Shopping Event will be going on this weekend, December 12th and 13th. Lilac Clothing Company, The Mudhud, Bombshell Boutique, Angello’s Scoops and Unique Gifts, Kaiju Records, Soul Yoga, Edit Downtown Salon, The Shady Sun Tanning Co., and Maya Bella’s Pizzeria will be participating.

The businesses will be doing special sales, all while promoting each other. For example, when you bring in a receipt into Lilac Clothing Company from another business that is participating, you get 20% off, on top of the sales they already have this weekend. “It brings in a completely different audience. All of us are a lot different from each other. So we tend to bring in a different demographic. We’re introducing a lot of people to a lot of new and different things downtown. When we partner together we make it stronger. We’re also working together to bring awareness that we are down here,” said Lilac Clothing Company owner Jennifer LeCates.

LeCates tells 47ABC that she saw a lot of support on days like Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. She says she thinks this will also be an opportunity to connect with customers. “It’s also getting to know our community and bringing everything back together. I have a lot of people coming into the shop because we’re in what was the Kuhns building. We have a lot of customers come in and tell us stories about how the plaza used to be the number one place to shop. You didn’t go anywhere else in Salisbury,” said LeCates.
