Deck the halls: Lewes Lights to bring holiday spirit to beach town

LEWES, Del. – It’s time to deck the halls in Lewes, and a new competition will have plenty of people doing it.

Christian Mullins and Debra Evalds started Lewes Lights, a competition for homeowners in the resort town to decorate their homes and win awards.

There are different categories for decorating, including frozen, frosty and fun, Clark Griswold, and more.

Mullins and Evalds say they just wanted to find a way to spread some holiday cheer this year despite Christmas parades and other holiday events being canceled.

“We look forward every year to Christmas activities, and as things were canceled one by one, understandably of course, the options became limited on how we could spread joy,” Evalds said. “And when Christian approached me with this idea, i just jumped in totally.”

“She didn’t even let me complete the sentence, she was like, ‘I’m in!'” Mullins added.

If you’re a Lewes resident and you want to register your home for the competition, you can do so at LewesLights.org. Registration is already open.
