Wicomico Co. receives grant for emergency rental assistance

SALISBURY, Md. – The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development recently awarded a COVID-19 Relief Grant to Wicomico County.

We’re told the $1,177,120 grant will provide senior food assistance and emergency rental assistance to those in need within the county. The funds will be split by three sub-recipients, with $177,120 going to Maintaining Active Citizens, Inc. (MAC Inc), and $500,000 each to the Wicomico County Local Management Board and Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County.

The funds for this emergency rental assistance program are limited to residents of Wicomico County. Because the City of Salisbury received their own rental assistance funds as an entitlement community, residents of the City of Salisbury are not eligible for this first round of rental assistance.

To be eligible for assistance, you must have lost your job or experienced a reduction in employment hours directly related to COVID-19. Applications will be accepted starting Monday, August 3rd.
