New mural on the table in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – Another mural is on the table for Salisbury – and the city is asking for your input on what you’d like to see. “We’re going to need community input to notify us of what they want on there. We don’t know what they want and we’re not the expert. So that’s why we’re drawing from the community,” said Neighborhood Relations Manager Kevin Lindsay.

One of the potential locations is at VFW post 10159 on West Main Street. That’s where a meeting will be held between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night. People can share ideas about where they would like to see the new mural. “This is a way to say hey this is a way to talk about history and what better way than doing it with art?” said Lindsay.

Lindsay tells 47ABC that it’s important to make sure that all parts of Salisbury know they’re important and cared about. “This is a way to express that history without causing a whole bunch of uproar about what monument we take down or what sign we put up. This is just another way to say hey we care about this community,” said Lindsay.

Lindsay says that after Tuesday’s meeting – the city will determine if they need to get some more feedback on the new mural. He says that they’ll be taking ideas from the public until an artist is selected. “We want to see how much input we get, what they want to see – and then we’ll regroup. So if we need some more feedback, we’ll get some more feedback,” said Lindsay.
