2020 Sharptown Firemen’s Carnival canceled

SHARPTOWN, Md. – The Sharptown Fire Department has announced that this year’s Sharptown Firemen’s Carnival is canceled.

We’re told the Carnival Committee and Department Membership have agreed that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is in the best interest and safety of the public, members, and volunteers that assist with the carnival’s operations.

“We have spent many hours going over the different options to be able to open, and while some restrictions have been lifted, at this time, there is not a viable path to the possibility of opening,” the Sharptown Volunteer Fire Department said in a Facebook post.

Officials say they will have fundraisers to help offset the loss from having to close Bingo and the carnival. That info will be posted to their website as it becomes available.
