Local woman cooking dozens of meals a week for those in need

SELBYVILLE, Del. – A local woman is giving back to her community during these difficult times with home cooking. Debbie Langley says she started out by making masks, but decided to cook meals for those in need when she saw how much people were struggling to get food. “I started noticing on Facebook friends that I knew in long lines waiting for food and stuff. One thing that I love to do is cook, so I thought ‘I wonder if I can start cooking for people,'” said Langley.

Langley says as of Thursday, she’s made about 130 meals – mostly by herself. She tells 47ABC that the first week she paid for the food herself. Langley has now raised almost $1,300 to help fund the cooking. She says that the best part of the experience is seeing how people have come together to help out and spread the word. “There’s still so many good people out there that are wanting to do whatever they can to help out, and I am very humbled by it and it makes me feel amazing that I am actually able to do this for people,” said Langley.

If you’d like to help out, you can visit Langley’s Debbie’s Faith Fundraiser For Those In Need fundraiser page on Facebook. Langley also says you can message her if you’re in need of food. She does some delivery locally. Otherwise you can pick up food at her house without getting out of your car.
