Health officials announce 143 new cases, 5 new deaths in Del.

SMYRNA, Del. – The Delaware Division of Public Health is providing an update on coronavirus in the state.

Officials say there are five new deaths related to coronavirus in the state, bringing the statewide total to 322. The most recent deaths include two New Castle County residents, one Kent County resident, and two Sussex County residents, all ranging in age from 39 to 90. We’re told four of the five individuals had underlying health conditions.

There are also an additional 143 positive cases, bringing the state total to 8,529. Sussex County has seen 4,048 of those cases, while 1,296 have been in Kent County, and 3,132 have been in New Castle. At this time, 221 individuals are hospitalized, 44 of whom are critically ill.

4,296 Delawareans have made a full recovery from the virus.
