James T. Vaughn inmate who died tests positive for COVID-19

DOVER, Del. – Delaware officials say that the James T. Vaughn inmate who died on Thursday tested positive for the coronavirus.

73-year-old Joseph Russo died on Thursday at Bayhealth Kent Campus. His cause of death from acute respiratory failure has been determined to be related to complications from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and coronavirus.

Officials say Russo was given a proactive test on April 10th, as well as a second test on April 14th when he began to show symptoms. Both of these tests came back negative.

In addition, three more correctional officers have tested positive for the virus, bringing the total to 17.
