Holy Week celebrations going virtual

SALISBURY, Md. – With Good Friday at the end of this week and Easter just around the corner – local christian churches say they’re also going virtual. They tell us services will be help over Zoom, but the celebration is just the same. “The services are just one aspect of what we do serving our community,” said Community of Joy’s Pastor Martin Hutchison.

Pastor Hutchison tells 47ABC his congregation has been participating in virtual services for the past couple of weeks already He says while he’s never quite celebrated Easter like this before, he’s thankful that he’s able to stay connected with his congregation through technology. “Simply seeing each other, hearing one voices, being able to wave at one another, being able to have a time to talk about anxieties, the stress, the uncertainty, all the emotions we’ve been feeling has been incredibly helpful,” said Pastor Hutchison.

Pastor Hutchison says the services aren’t just for regular members of the church. If you’d like to join in, you can reach out to Community of Joy and ask for a zoom code.
