Beebe Healthcare expanding COVID-19 testing in Sussex County, offering free testing
GEORGETOWN, Del.- With the rising number of coronavirus cases in Sussex County, Beebe Healthcare is partnering with the Delaware Division of Public Health to aggressively expand testing and follow-up care.
Beebe Healthcare is the first to launch free testing under a new care continuum model, which is used during mobile testing sites.
The model was developed to tackle the virus from all angles, screening, testing, and follow-up care.
Healthcare workers said by expanding testing they can hopefully catch the virus early enough to prevent the complications that can arise.
“The expanded testing allows us to get as much information out into the community and touch as many people as we can,” Stephen Keiser, Vice President of Operations at Beebe, said.
“There’s definitely a need for it, it seems to be expanding in this area so we need to get our services out here and provide the services that the community needs,” Shannon Hager, clinic coordinator and nurse manager for the testing facility, said.
The free drive up testing will be held on Friday from 10 to 4 and on Saturday from 9 to 1 at sites near Beebe’s Georgetown Health Campus.
