Two arrested on drug, weapons charges

KENT/SUSSEX CO., Md. – A joint investigation between multiple agencies has resulted in two arrests in Delaware.

We’re told the investigation involved Delaware State Police Kent and Sussex County Drug Units, Dover Police Department, Milford Police Department, Sussex Governor’s Task Force, Special Operations Response Team, U.S. Marshals Task Force, and the Homeland Security Investigations.

On February 13th, the investigation wrapped up with the arrests of 41-year-old Roberto Cantu and 54-year-old Mario Garza. Investigation revealed that Cantu and Garza were working together and were responsible for distributing large amounts of cocaine and marijuana in the Kent and Sussex County areas. A search warrant was obtained for both residences, in the 300 block of Cedar Drive in Lincoln, as well as the unit block of Nailor Street in Milford.

A search of the Milford residence led to the discovery of the following:

  • Approximately 69.51 grams of powder cocaine
  • Approximately 104.36 grams of marijuana
  • 57 Acxion 30mg pills
  • Two .22 caliber handguns
  • .45 caliber handgun
  • 9mm handgun
  • Two 12 gauge shotguns
  • .50 caliber rifle
  • More than $35,000 in suspected drug money
  • Various rounds of ammunition

At the Cedar Drive residence, officers found the following:

  • Approximately 371.44 grams of cocaine
  • Approximately 1,290.81 grams of marijuana
  • Two 9mm handguns
  • 12 gauge shotgun
  • 203 rounds of 9mm ammunition
  • More than $11,000 in suspected drug money

In addition, Garza was reportedly wanted by Homeland Security and had an immigration warrant on file due to previously being deported and returning to the U.S. He was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, possession with intent to deliver cocaine in a tier 3 quantity, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held at SCI on $131,000 secured bond.

Cantu was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a tier 3 quantity, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited who also possesses a controlled substance. He was held at SCI on $61,000 secured bond.
