WiHi stays atop the Bayside South with the big win over Pocomoke

SALISBURY, Md.- In their first game after the Governors Challenge, the WiHi Indians got the 86-69 home win over Pocomoke. With the win, the Indians move to 7-0 in regular season play, the loss drops Pocomoke to 4-2 in the regular season.

It was a back and forth first half that saw five lead changes and a lot of scoring. D’Aaron Jones led the Warriors in the first quarter with eight points, including going 2/3 from the line. Antwan Wilson had a big quarter for the Tribe with nine points. To end the first quarter, WiHi led 20-18 but to begin the second quarter, Nigel Houston put Pocomoke ahead 25-23 with two free throws. The teams continued to go blow for blow in the second, both teams looking like they belonged atop the Bayside South. With a buzzer beating lay up from Jayson Handy,the Indians took another two point lead to end the half, 35-33.

After a nail biting first half, the second looked to be the same story.  That was not exactly the case. WiHi came out firing, taking a six point lead, then a thirteen point lead, then a fourteen point lead to end the third quarter. The Tribe led by as many as twenty three points in the fourth quarter, scoring 51 second half points to pull away for the 86-69.

WiHi returns to action next Tuesday, January 7th, when they travel to Berlin to take on Decatur. Pocomoke looks to get back in the win column when they host Mardela also next Tuesday.
