Laurel girls avenge their Gov Challenge loss to Salisbury Christian

LAUREL, Del.- After falling to Salisbury Christian 48-44 in the Governors Challenge, Laurel defeated the Jaguars 63-48. The win improves the Bulldogs to 6-2 while the loss drops Salisbury to 6-3.

It was all Bulldogs from the start, Laurel jumping out to a 16-4 lead late in the first quarter. The Jaguars would cut it to just a six point lead in the second but, Laurel stretched it to 14 to end the half. Na’Kayla Smith and Carlie Vendables led the way for the Bulldogs with nine points each. Kaela Mitchell led Salisbury Christian with six.

In the second half, Laurel would pull away leading by fourteen to end the third quarter and then eventually taking the game 63-48. The Bulldogs return to action when they take on Delmar tomorrow January 6th at home. The Jags look to get back in the win column when they take host Holly Grove on Wednesday January 8th.
