Parkside trio shines in win over rival Bennett

Wright, Ballard, & Holmes combine for 61 points vs. JMB

SALISBURY, Md- Parkside trio Jackie Wright, Amanda Ballard, and Stephanie Holmes combined to score 61 points, including 21  in the fourth quarter to propel the Rams to a 70-61 win over city rival Bennett on Tuesday afternoon.

Bennett jumped out to a 10-0 lead to begin the game, and led 17-8 after the first quarter. The Lady Rams would battle back and outscore JMB 27-11 in the second quarter, to take a seven point lead into the half (35-28).

Bennett would win the third quarter 14-11 behind nine points from Zyaire “Peanut” Smullen (16 total), to pull the score to 46-42 in favor of the Rams headed into the fourth.

Despite Clipper guard Mekara Hanson dropping 16 points in the fourth quarter, Parkside would weather the storm and pull away with nine point win.

Hanson finished with a game-high 26 points in the loss, with teammate Olivia Owens pitching in with 14.

For Parkside, Wright led the team with 24 points, followed by Ballard’s 19. Parkside also got clutch shooting from Holmes, who finshed with 18 points.
