Parkside girls advance to their bracket championship with nail biting win

PRINCESS ANNE, Md- Behind a combined 38 points from Jackie Wright (20) and Amanda Ballard (18), the Parkside Lady Rams defeated Linganore 52-48 to advance to their bracket championship.

After trailing 9-2 midway through the first quarter, Parkside came back to take the 11-9 lead headed to the second. The Rams, led by Jackie Wright and Jirah Kelly in the first, went back and forth with the Lancers in the second but surrendered the one point 22-21 lead at the half.

In the second half, the Rams jumped on that Lancer defense taking a 12 point lead with five minutes remaining in the fourth. Thats where the Linganore offense went off. Rattling off 16 points cut the lead to just four (49-45) with 30 seconds to play. In the final 10 seconds, Emma Kokoskie knocked down a three to cut it to just one with 7 seconds to play. Needing to foul, the Lancers put Wright on the line and she delivered. Knocking down five free throws, Wright closed the door on the Lancer comeback handing the Rams the 52-48 win to advance to the bracket championship game.
