Bennett runs rampant on Queen Anne’s, stays in playoff hunt
SALISBURY, Md- The James M. Bennett Clippers football team improved to 3-5 on the season, defeating Queen Anne’s 48-13 on Saturday afternoon in Salisbury.
The Clippers dominated from the beginning, gashing the Lions on the ground to the tune of 3 rushing touchdowns in each half. In the first, Bennett QB Sam Blackmon finished with two on the ground, while RB Jordan Mitchell also added a rushing score. In the second half, Mitchell added his second, while FB Micah Reddish also marched in twice on the ground.
Late in the second half, Bennett’s all-conference utility star Troy Gibson took an onside kick attempt 57-yards the other way for a score.
The Clippers (3-5) win keeps their hope alive to land in the expanded 3A playoffs. With a win next week against WiHi, JMB will almost certainly clinch the eighth and final seed in the 3A South. Queen Anne’s (2-6) is officially eliminated from playoff contention.
