Lincoln man charged in connection to July death investigation

LINCOLN, Del. – Delaware State Police have charged a man in connection to a death investigation that began last month.

The incident took place shortly before 8:30 p.m. on July 10th, in the 15000 block of Winner Circle. On arrival, troopers found 34-year-old Brian Chirdon suffering from a gunshot wound. He was initially taken to Sussex Bayhealth Hospital but was later transferred to Christiana Hospital where he died as a result of his injury.

Troopers were able to identify his father, 62-year-old David Chirdon, as the suspect in this incident.

On Monday, a Sussex County grand jury indicted him on charges of manslaughter and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and on Tuesday, Chirdon turned himself in at Troop 4. He was later released after posting $40,000 secured bond.
