Four teens arrested following police chase in stolen vehicle
BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested four people after they led police on a chase in a stolen vehicle early Sunday morning.
Just after 6:30 a.m., Delaware State Police were notified that Maryland State Police were actively pursuing a stolen motor vehicle, a blue Honda Civic, that had fled into Delaware. Troopers quickly located the vehicle traveling northbound on Dupont Boulevard in the area of Patriots Way and attempted to stop the vehicle, however it continued fleeing and driving recklessly.
The vehicle then stopped on Sussex Highway in the area of Redden Road, and a 16-year-old male passenger jumped out of the vehicle and took off on foot, while the vehicle continued to flee. Police say that before the teen was taken into custody, he struck a police K-9 in attempt to resist arrest.
The vehicle was later found unoccupied on Walnut Street in Bridgeville after a concerned citizen reported seeing occupants flee and enter a detached shed on the property. Troopers found three subjects hiding in the shed, identified as 19-year-old Wilfredo Rodriguez of College Park, MD, a 16-year-old male and 16-year-old female, both of Lenham, MD.
The 16-year-old female was released on her own recognizance, while the two male juveniles and Rodriguez were held on various burglary and resisting arrest charges.
