Fatal crash under investigation in Lewes

LEWES, Del. – Delaware State Police are actively investigating a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Millsboro man Wednesday evening.

Shortly after 7 p.m., a Jeep Wrangler traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway reportedly lost control after crossing the Love Creek Bridge, subsequently crossing over the eastbound travel lane and veering off the road. The vehicle then crossed over a raised curb and through a grass yard before hitting an unoccupied residence in the 20000 block of John J. Williams Highway.

Police say the driver was a 67-year-old Millsboro man who was properly restrained. He was taken to Beebe Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation, however preliminary reports suggest the driver may have suffered a medical condition before crashing.
