Delmar softball team in need of funding to play in regionals tournament

DELMAR, Md. – After winning the Maryland State Championship last week, the Delmar Little League Softball Team is now heading to regionals , but they need your help.Coaches on the team tell 47 ABC that they need to raise a total of $15,000 by Saturday in order to play in the tournament this Sunday in Pennsylvania.
Officials say so far communities across Wicomico County have stepped up to pitch in to send this team to PA, but they still need more help. Parents and coaches say this team has worked so hard to get to this point and they don’t want the object of money to get in their way.

“This is actually the first time that Delmar has ever taken a team to regionals so we’re pretty ecstatic. You don’t even know how many hours these girls have worked and they’re a huge family. The parents are a huge family we would be lost without these girls playing together,” said Coach Kristen Throm.

Throm adds that the team is holding a fundraiser this Wednesday at Delmar Pizza and they’ll also be selling raffle tickets this Friday at the Shorebirds game. If you can’t make it out to one of those days, you can also give to their fundraiser online here.
