Wicomico and Dorchester Legion game called for darkness

SALISBURY, Md- Dorchester Post-91 and the Wicomico Blue Sox battled in a Maryland American Legion baseball game at Parkside high school on Tuesday night, with the game ending in 9-9 tie.

Post-91 jumped out to a 2-run lead in the top half of the the first, but the Blue Sox answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

A 4-run second helped Post-91 take a 6-3 lead. However, clutch hitting from the Blue Sox would help them retake the lead 9-6 after the fourth inning.

After a couple fielding errors and walks by the Blue Sox, the two teams entered the bottom of the 7th inning tied at 9.

With 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th the game was called due to darkness, meaning the two teams will finish their matchup the next time they face each other on June 13th.

Calvin Malone had a great day at the plate for the Blue Sox going 2-2 with 2 RBI’s, while Shamen Young helped pace Post 91’s offense reaching base four times.
