Pennsylvania woman charged with DUI and other charges following crash

BERLIN, Md. – A Pennsylvania woman was arrested Thursday night after crashing her vehicle near the Ocean Downs Casino.

At around 10 p.m., Maryland State Police responded to the crash at Route 589 and the Ocean Downs Casino. Troopers say the driver, 37-year-old Nicole Lee Thomas of Marysville, PA, was intentionally driving her 2008 Volkswagen in a manner to skid in circles in the roadway. She then reportedly drove off the roadway into a ditch and the front lawn of Ocean Downs before fleeing the scene on foot.

She was located a short time later following an extensive search by members of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department, Maryland Natural Resources Police, Berlin Police Department K9 and Ocean Pines Police Department.

Thomas was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and other related traffic charges. She was later released on personal recognizance.
