Del. State Police: Four arrested on numerous drug charges
SELBYVILLE, Del. – An investigation into the sale of illegal drugs has led to four arrests in Selbyville.
According to police, the investigation began when the Sussex Governor’s Task Force (GTF) learned that several subjects were loitering on a property in the 37000 block of Washington Avenue in Selbyville. The property was the subject of a civil abatement in 2018 for drug related crimes, and as a result the State of Delaware took control of the property and all residents were removed. The home was then boarded up with no trespassing signs posted.
After receiving a report on Monday that several subjects were engaging in criminal activity on the property, GTF members as well as the Sussex Drug Unit (SDU) responded. The GTF members made contact with several subjects on scene, four of which then fled on foot and led police on a brief foot pursuit. All four suspects, identified as 51-year-old Keith Handy, 19-year-old Jayquan Bland, 55-year-old Herbert Griffin, and 23-year-old Devine Lynch, were taken into custody a short time later.
Police recovered nearly 100 bags of heroin and more than $1,600 in suspected drug money during the investigation.
Handy was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, maintaining a drug property, conspiracy second degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $14,000 secured bond.
Bland was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy second degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and tampering with evidence. He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $11,500 secured bond.
Griffin was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy second degree possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest. He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $10,500 secured bond.
Lynch was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy second degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest. He is also being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $10,500 secured bond.
