Cape cruises past Poly, moves to 12-0 on the year
LEWES, Del.- Behind four goals from Emily Monigle, the Cape Henlopen girls lacrosse team defeated Polytech 15-3 to move to 12-0. The loss drops Poly to 9-3.
It was all Vikings early, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first 10 minutes behind a hat trick from Emily Monigle. After a Panthers timeout, they would finally get on the board with a Mackenzie Estrada goal in the eleventh minute. Cape would go on another run to end the half, this one three goals to extend their lead to 8-1 at half. Monigle led all scores at the break with three. Anna Stranskofski, Sawyer Walker, Chloe Shaeffer, Meredith Lockwood, and Kelly Bragg each had one for the Vikings.
The defending state champs would come out of the break on fire scoring five straight goals in the first five minutes. The Panthers would get on the board two more times, Claire Fuchs on a free position goal and Estrada once more.
