Prince Street Elementary gives students, faculty opportunity to ‘Write Out Loud’

SALISBURY, Md. – On Monday, students and faculty at Prince Street Elementary School held their first ever poetry night. School officials tells us April is National Poetry Month and they decided to celebrate. For the past month students have been working with teachers to focus on their writing and poetry skills.
10 students submitted their work, and got the chance to perform in front of friends, fellow teachers and their family. School officials add that it was important to give students another creative outlet to help express themselves.

“It just is a way for them to have an outlet or a venue to express them and so we think writing is very important. Not only does it help them become a better reader through their writing but it also gives them a chance to express themselves which we think is really important,” said Prince Street Elementary Principal, Jason Miller.

Miller adds that if all goes well, he hopes to hold another poetry night for students to take part in next year.
