Miller, Porter power Smyrna lacrosse past rival Dover

SMYRNA, Del.- A hat trick from Cullen Porter and a career night in net from Matthew Miller led the Smyrna boys lacrosse team to a 6-4 win over rival Dover, 6-4, Wednesday night. It’s Smyrna’s first win over their conference foe since April 2015.

Miller, who finished the night with a career-high 21 saves, was a brick wall in net, registering 11 saves in the second half alone.

Up front for the Eagles (5-0), Porter led the way with his three goal night, followed by Jason Zeitler, Ashton Pelton and Hunter McGuire with one goal a piece.

For Dover, they would trail 4-1 at halftime, but tie the game at 4-4 near the end of the third quarter. Only two players netting goals for the Senators, Demetrius Cave-Martin and Thomas Gill, who each scored two.
