Queen Anne's tops Kent Island

CENTREVILLE, Md. – It was a quite the night at Queen Anne’s High School on Thursday. The Lions played host to Kent Island in an MPSSAA Class 2-A East regional semi final game.

With the score knotted 39-39 with 0:22 left to play, Abby Blanchard had chance to give Queen Anne’s the lead at the free throw line.

Blanchard would miss the front end of a one and one but Kendal Moxey was there for the rebound and put back. The Lions would take the 41-39 lead.

Kent Island choose not to call a timeout and instead rushed down the floor where Eria Clark found herself open for the three on the right wing. Clark would connect from behind the arc, giving the Buccaneers the 42-41 lead with 0:10 left in regulation.

Queen Anne’s would elect to call a timeout to draw up one final play, and it paid off.

Blanchard received the inbounds pass, dribbled into the corner and threw up a short 8-footer which fell into the bottom of the net as the buzzer sounded.
