Smyrna police investigating officer-involved car crash

Smyrna Police are investigating a car crash involving an officer.

Police say the officer lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and crashed into unoccupied parked cars on the side of the roadway.

Police say the officer was responding to a request for assistance from another officer while driving northbound on S Dupont Blvd. near E Commerce St. when they lost control. 

Authorities say the incident occured on Friday, August 17 at approximately 11 pm. 

The officer was taken to a local hospital where they were treated and released for minor injuries.

No other people were injured.

The accident remains under investigation by the Smyrna Police Department.
