Police investigating fatal afternoon crash

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate a fatal crash West Piney Grove Rd. in Georgetown Saturday afternoon.

Police say a pickup truck, operated by a 63-year old Georgetown man, was traveling northbound on W. Piney Grove Road when he crossed over the median and went into oncoming traffic, directly in to the path of a Jeep, operated by a 53-year old Georgetown woman.  The vehicles collided, killing the Georgetown man.  Identification is pending the notification of next of kin.

The operator of the Jeep was transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact Sgt. A. Mendez at Troop 7 by calling 302-703-3269.
