New task force seeks to enhance police training

around the state — to the police training and regulatory commission. three of those named are from the eastern shore. salisbury police chief barbara duncan — talbot county sheriff joe gamble — and clinical psychologist doctor michael finegan of peninsula mental health services. there are approximately sixteen police training academies across the state — and the goal of this new task force is to be more involved with each one of them by reviewing police training and regulations — in an effort to further enhance the efficiency and strength of training we’re told there is a strong emphasis on communication training. an example of this would be how to safely diffuse conflict. we need everybody –we need faith based communities and faith based communities to discuss change and respect for authorities – we need law enforcement to have an understanding of perceptions within a community that can influence behaviors. better communication. better understanding and increased sensitivity on all sides of this equation will make for a much safer maryland the task force met today—for the first time today in sykesville. time today in sykesville. medical experts in maryland– are warning
