Decatur Notches Falls Short In Hopes For Second Big Win In Governors Challenge Over Bowie

The Stephen Decatur boys basketball team is one of the best teams in the Bayside and after last night’s big win over Battlefield, the Seahawks looked to string together their second straight win on the final day of the Governor’s Challenge while taking on Bowie.

The Seahawks got off to a good start, but it was a low scoring first quarter for both teams as Decatur took a 12-6 lead after one quarter of play. Throughout the second quarter, Bowie made their way back in the game, but at half the score was in Decatur’s favor –

However, the Poets began to rewrite the game in the second half and managed to take back the lead and eventually hold on for the win, 64-58. The Seahawks had a great push at the end and got back within 5 points, but they couldn’t get the win despite their play on the floor.
