Berlin man arrested for driving wrong way while heavily intoxicated

Authorities say they have arrested a man after receiving numerous reports that he was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Ocean Highway in Delmar.
According to the Wicomico Sheriff Department, a deputy stopped 28-year-old Santiago Cervantes-Hernandez, just after 4 AM on Saturday.
Reports say, the deputy immediately noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Cervantes-Hernandez’. Upon Cervantes-Hernandez’ exiting the car, the deputy says he observed Cervantes-Hernandez stumble and almost fell.
The deputy says he had to assist Cervantes-Hernandez with walking to the rear of his vehicle, as he administered a sobriety testing, which Cervantes-Hernandez performed poorly on.
Cervantes-Hernandez was then arrested and during subsequent processing he submitted to a breath test with a result of .24.
Cervantes-Hernandez faces the charges of driving under the influence of alcohol per se, and is being held in lieu of $10,000 bond.
