Solar Eclipse: pinhole viewer
The countdown to the solar eclipse is getting closer and closer.
In just a few days, on August 21, the entire U.S. will experience the eclipse in a way that has not happened in years.
47 ABC has some instructions on how to create a pinhole viewer at home.
Here is a list of the items you will need:
- Long Tube
- Aluminum Foil
- Translucent Paper
- Tap
- Push Pen or Needle
Follow these instructions:
- Cut both ends or a portion of both ends.
- At one end, place a piece of aluminum foil over the cut out.
- On the other end place a piece of transparent / translucent paper over the cut.
- Use the push pen or needle to create a small circular point in the center of the aluminum foil.
- Point the foil at the sun or bright light and the object should appear on the transparent paper.
Do not look directly at the sun or through the pinhole.
