Smyrna opens up with big win over Sussex Central

The Smyrna Eagles opened up their 2016-’17 season with a 69-40 dumping of Sussex Central on Friday night.

Eagles guard Caleb Matthews led all-scorers with 22 points in the game, as teammates Dymer’e Richardson and Akeem Ferrell added 13 and 10 points, respectively. Ethan Lambert and Jahleir Pettyjohn paced the Golden Knights with 10 points apiece.

Smyrna (1-0) is back in action on Tuesday in their first home game as they host Sussex Tech, while Sussex Central (0-1) will visit Dover on the same night.
