talking sports tray..this past weekend in delaware was a great one for a couple of our local football teams. yeah emily coming into the weekend there were only four teams still playing..2 of them being teams from our henlopen conference with both making history on saturday. as this past weekend marked just the third time in history that the diaa division one and two titles have been swept by the henlopen conference. the first being the henlopen north champion smyrna..the eagles make a little history of their own becoming the first back to back champion the henlopen has ever produced. they won their first ever school title last year, this year they take it again with a 36-14 win over middletown, congrats to the big red machine. and the other team making history…none other than the woodbridge blue raiders. they marched past wilmington friends with a 14-9 win to take their first state title in school history! so 1988, 2008, and 2016 the only time the little ole henlopen takes two on championship history. congrats to our teams what a way to wrap up a great 2016 season. and while the fall season is done…winter sports have just begun. some good matchups in the bayside tonight, one we have our eye on tonight is actually going on right now as the cambridge girls host salisbury school. and then at 7..the cambridge boys open up their season against the currently undefeated salisbury school. that should be a great matchup, be sure to tune in tonight as we’ll have your highlights at 11 right here on 47abc. and while we’re on the subject of basketball things, the maryland eastern shore hawks are back at home tonight after a long road trip…they host central penn at the hytche center at 7 pm and they’re back at home at the right time…eastern shore currently sits 0-7 on the season with a handful of losses to major division one teams..central penn is actually a division ii team so im calling it now, the hawks get their first win tonight at home. and of course we’ll have those highlights as well in our shows tonight. that’s it for sports – more news and weather straight ahead. stay with us. catch more of the action on our sports page at 47abc.com here’s a look
