Rehoboth capital improvements focus of budget talks

Rehoboth commissioners are working hard on the town's budget. The big news is a new 5-year capital improvement project in the works.
Commissioners are calling this the first transparent thorough capital improvement plan for the town. They say previous plans were more similar to 'wish lists.'
Commissioners brought in department heads to discuss and vet their needs. The plan also features a new public works director with an engineering background.
We're told this plan will help with a lot of projects around the city that have been neglected.
"You'll see that we're actually funding paving for roads over the next couple of years, or we're funding storm water replacement and water pipe replacement that hasn't been done in 20 or 30 years in the city. So I'd say that's the highlights, that it's not just this year but it's a long term plan for the health of the city," said commissioner Lisa Schlosser.
The council tells us there have been some hard decisions to make with this budget because of the loans for city hall and the ocean outfall project.
