Christopher Thomas, 22 of Lincoln DE

Police in Milford say they arrested a Lincoln man after he tried to cash in a fraudulent check.

According to reports, 22-year-old Christopher Thomas was arrested Wednesday following an investigation into a forgery at a local bank. Earlier that day Thomas reportedly entered a Milford area bank and attempted to cash a check that appeared suspicious to the bank employee. The bank staff reportedly notified Milford Police and a responding officer investigated the matter further determining the transaction was fraudulent and that Thomas had previously engaged in another fraudulent transaction from the same account the day before on Tuesday. Police also say Thomas was in possession of about 11 grams of marijuana when he was arrested.

Thomas was taken into custody without incident. He is being charged with forgery, possession of marijuana, theft, attempted theft, and receiving stolen property. Thomas bail was set at $7250 unsecured. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas next Friday.
