Salisbury man sentenced to 14 years for narcotics, handgun possession
SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man will spend 14 years behind bars on drug and firearm charges.
Earlier this week, Detrick Butler pleaded guilty to one count of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, one count of possession of oxycodone with the intent to distribute, and one count of possession of a handgun by a prohibited person. Butler’s plea was accepted, and the judge sentenced him to 29 years behind bars with all but 14 suspended.
We’re told the handgun conviction requires a minimum of five years of mandatory incarceration before Butler can become eligible for parole. On release, Butler will be on three years of supervised probation.
The charges stem from a search and seizure warrant that was executed at Butler’s residence on January 14, 2021. During the search, police recovered 478.18 grams of cocaine, oxycodone pills, marijuana, paraphernalia, two handguns, and a large amount of money. As part of the plea, Butler forfeited the two handguns, as well as $3,815 in cash, which were proceeds from his illegal narcotics sales.
