Bennett Overcomes Early Deficit For 10-6 Win Over Delmar

The James M. Bennett High School boy’s lacrosse team opened up the 2015 campaign with a road victory Monday afternoon in Delaware, downing Delmar 10-6, behind three-goal efforts by Oakley Wise and Kevin Davis.

Davis opened the game with a finish, catching a pass from teammate Drew Mangeson, but the Wildcats would answer back. Drew Blewitt of Delmar used most of the first quarter to record a hat trick and give the Wildcats an early 3-1 lead. Wise found the back of the net for his first before the end of the first quarter, and would draw the score even just minutes into the second.

Pulling away from there, Bennett recorded its first victory of the season, while Delmar moves to 0-1 to start the season.

The Wildcats will play Indian River on Wednesday on their home field, while the Clippers travel to the Salisbury School for a 4 p.m., faceoff.
