Senate rejects Coons’ proposal to pay for war on ISIS

After sixteen hours of debates and voting, Delaware Senator Chris Coons’ proposal to have a temporary surtax to pay for the war on ISIS was rejected by the senate.
The proposal was offered as an amendment to the fiscal year 2016 federal budget that is currently under consideration.
The temporary surtax would have paid for U.S. military operations against ISIS. Even though the resolution was rejected by every republican in the senate, Senator Coons says he’s not giving up on this measure.
Senator Coons goes, “I do think going forward we need to face this issue with the foreign relations committee, which deals with authorizing ongoing conflict against ISIS. I’ll raise this issue again.”
47 ABC asked Senator Coons exactly when he plans to raise this issue. He tells us it’ll be in the coming weeks when the foreign relations committee meets to discuss payment options for the war on ISIS.
