Berlin enters contract with American Municipal Power

Residents in Berlin may soon have cheaper power bills, now that the town has entered a contract with a non-profit corporation.
Berlin has joined American Municipal Power (AMP) which sells electricity in bulk to the electric systems of its members.
With Berlin now a member, Mayor Gee Williams says it can save the average household bill about three percent each month.
“Anything we can do to make life more affordable both residents and businesses that are coming to our town all the time is certainly an advantage.” Says Mayor Williams.
He says the plan will take effect this June. We’re told rates are expected to drop through December 2017.
