UPDATE: Greensboro man pleads guilty in sexual exploitation of infant

In a Baltimore courtroom on Friday morning, 34-year-old Stephen Schaffner, entered a plea for charges accusing him of sexually abusing a six-week-old baby boy.
Schaffner was facing ten counts from the indictment, he pleaded guilty to two counts, including conspiracy to sexually exploit a child and sexual exploiting a child. The judge accepted the guilty plea, and Schaffner waived his right to appeal conviction.
The remaining eight counts will reportedly be dropped at sentencing. Schaffner is facing 35 years in prison, with a lifetime of supervised release, and registration as a sex offender. Sentencing is scheduled for July 9th, at 10:00 AM.
Schaffner was formally a licensed counselor in Maryland, providing services to those who’s lives and family relationships were in crisis. He was fired in November 2012, before his license was suspended. He had apparently been collecting child pornography since 2004, and reportedly said that he had a sexual interest in boys from “age zero” up.
A cellphone that was seized during a child pornography investigation, showed text messages between Schaffner, and 50-year-old Michael Lutts, of San Diego, California, about sexually abusing Lutts’ six-week-old foster child. Lutts worked as a pediatric nurse at a hospital in San Diego County.
47 ABC’s Emily Lampa was in court, and says that Schaffner, who was dressed in maroon prison attire, looked in good spirits. Emily will have more on this story, tonight at 6:00 PM on 47 ABC.
