44 year-old-man injured in Dover shooting

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police are investigating a shooting that injured a 44-year-old man Saturday night.

Police say they learned about the shooting when the victim arrived at Bayhealth Kent Campus Emergency Room suffering a gunshot wound to his leg, and a facial injury from an assault.

The victim told police he was in his car in the area of New Castle Avenue and East Water Street when three unknown black male suspects went up to his car and asked for a cigarette. That’s when the victim says one suspect got into his car from the passenger side, and the other two opened his driver’s door. The suspects then allegedly hit the victim in the head with a shotgun. The victim says he tried to drive away, and the suspects opened fire. The victim’s car was hit four times.

The victim has not been identified. He is being treated for his injuries.
