Frederica Volunteer Fire Dept. receives new CPR machine

In Frederica, the Volunteer Fire Department recently received a machine that's helping save lives.

Six months ago, they finally got their hands on a mechanical chest compression device and they're saying it's already helping them tremendously.

We're told the average body gets tired in two minutes doing compressions, but this machine runs on one battery for 45 minutes.

Arriving to the scene, it can be activated in less than 30 seconds.

This keeps first responders rested when they are doing long term CPR sessions.

Beyond being consistent, this frees up rescuers to do other things as well.

They've seen a 60% increase in spontaneous circulation in combination with this device.

For right now, they only have one device but they hope to add another.
