Interboro (PA) battles, hangs on to beat Sussex Central

The Sussex Central football team suffered their first loss of the season, in their home opener, falling 20-16 of Interboro High School of Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
Trailing 13-10 at the half, the Knights would drive the ball all the way to the Buccaneers 1-yard line, before a fumble by quarterback Brady Bowden stalled the drive. Interboro would get a key insurance score late in the fourth, when running back Chris Thomas got into the endzone on fourth and goal from the one yard line. With the score, Interboro went up 20-10 with 3:41 remaining in the game. On the insuing drive, Bowden would be picked off in the endzone by Bucs corner Matt Disands.
Central would fight to force a fumble and score once more on a Kendrique Nocks 2-yard score with 1:17 to go, but a missed PAT would make their comeback attempt even that much harder. Interboro recovered the onside kick, rushed for a first down, and was able to kneel to end it.
Central (1-1) is back in action next Friday, when they host Queen Anne’s.
