MILFORD, Del. – School officials say sixth graders from Milford Middle School (MMS) will be sent to Milford Central Academy (MCA) to allow for three grades of Lulu Ross Elementary School students to use the space following Sunday’s devastating fire.

Plans for sending Lulu Ross students back to school are still being developed, but in a message sent to families on Tuesday evening, Superintendent Travis Moorman says second, third, and fourth grade students will resume learning at MMS, starting Monday, Nov. 2. As a result, sixth graders at MMS will be moved to MCA.

“We have notified the staff members at all three schools who are affected by this plan and will continue to share the details regarding the time and effort it will take for them to relocate their materials and supplies,” the message read, in part. “We will also continue to work on how this change will impact transportation, instructional schedules, start/end times and other student services which we will provide ongoing daily communication with this information as it becomes finalized.”

Superintendent Moorman added that school officials are working to create a Frequently Asked Questions page that can help answer families evolving questions.

“We hope to minimize any unintended consequences that may occur with all of the moving parts currently in motion, but we continue to prioritize getting our Ross students back into learning environments,” the message from Superintendent Moorman concluded. “While these changes are significant and may not be convenient for everyone, I truly believe it is in the best interest of all students involved.”
